Life Care Centers of America honored Robert Breeden, senior executive director at The Heritage Center in Morristown, Tennessee, with one of two President’s Awards for its Eastern Division on Aug. 14, 2017.
The honor recognizes distinguished service in the long-term health care management role. The Eastern Division includes 39 skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
For more than 10 years, Breeden has led The Heritage Center with loyalty and excellence. Under his leadership, the facility has been a five-star center through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services since 2015. It also won the Bronze National Quality Award in 2015 from the American Health Care Association and the next step up, the Silver National Quality Award, in July 2017. In January 2017, The Heritage Center also earned a deficiency-free state survey.
Breeden has been actively involved with the American Health Care Association and the Tennessee Health Care Association, serving on multiple boards of directors over the years and working with local legislators with regard to issues pertinent to senior care. He encourages involvement in the community, and The Heritage Center has sponsored many events and several health spots on local radio stations.
Breeden stays connected to his associates and residents.
“As a leader, he contributes to the emotional well-being of our residents by giving them the attention they don’t necessarily expect from someone in his position,” said Nancy Harmon, human resources director. “You may catch Robert at any time tying a resident’s shoe, helping them get something from a vending machine or just listening to them.”
Breeden prays daily for the residents, associates and the facility as a whole.
“Robert has demonstrated professional skill and compassion in dispatching his responsibilities to the associates, residents and families he serves,” said Beecher Hunter, Life Care president. “He has uniquely demonstrated a leadership style for others to emulate. This is a distinguished award to receive because it goes to the heart of our mission.”
Fifteen President’s Awards are presented annually to leaders of overall successful facilities or organizations within Life Care.
